Adding Google Video

A common question I see poping up how do i add a google video. You would think that google would give this feature but unfourtnatly they don't. There seems to be a work around to this, but it takes some careful planning. (click on pictures to see full size)

Preparing the page

If you want to keep the style of your previous pages you should first create a new page in the page manger. Enter a name for the page then click on  create and edit. You should now be in the editing section.

Blocking off the page for code.

You will need to block off the a portion of the section of the page you want to add the video. I used ***start code*** ***end code***. It could be anything you like.  Now you should publish the page.

Save the your page locally

I'm using firefox to do this it should be the same in Internet explorer. You should right click on the published page and save it to your local harddrive. The next part is the hardest. Its not realy that hard but for a html noob it may be.

Open in your favorite text editior

Do NOT use wordpad or word to open it. It can add extra characters in the file that may mess up the page. I suggest notepad. Sift through all the formatting html code that google added and find where you entered ***start code***. Select the code block starting with starting with ***start code*** and ending at ***end code***. Put the google video code in. Save the file. Now your ready to upload it back to google.

Uploading the page

I suggest you delete the original page that you added earlier. I'm not going to tell you how to upload a page since its a waste of my time. I will assume you uploaded the htm file. In this case my is called videotest.htm  Add a link on one of your pages publish and voila it should work. I did my page at http://judeibe.googlepages.com/videotest.htm
